we've gotten word from European studio and retail sources that Universal has at least the first Jurassic Park film set for tentative Blu-ray release (in Europe) on 11/4. All of this is (of course) subject to change until official announcements are made. But a Jurassic Park Blu-ray release this year IS consistent with information received from our own industry sources late last year that a number of major Steven Spielberg films would be arriving on the format throughout 2010 and beyond - information that's consistently been validated by the recent official announcements of Minority Report, Saving Private Ryan and War of the Worlds

Scarface, Jurassic Park Trilogy Blu-ray in 2011

During an extended interview with French site Ecranlarge.com, Eric Legay, marketing director for Universal France, revealed some of the catalog movies that the studio intends to release on Blu-ray in 2011, which prominently include the Jurassic Park trilogy and Brian DePalma's Scarface, along with some westerns and more Hitchcock.

The studio will also release some westerns on Blu-ray, including Winchester 73, Shenandoah and High Plains Drifter (apparently one of two movies starring Clint Eastwood that the studio plans to release this year).

Universal will also continue releasing Alfred Hitchcock movies on Blu-ray, but Legay noted that the flow of titles might be limited by the need to remaster them with the same level of quality as Psycho

Just unveiled new details about the highly anticipated international launch of the Jurassic Park trilogy on Blu-ray. In principle, will only pack the three films and not individually (although over time could come separately as has happened with other franchises). There are three different editions, a simple, one in metal case (possibly unique in some stores) and the most spectacular, a collector's box with the figure of T-Rex. The provisional release date is October 24, 2011.

From Universal Spain have confirmed that this release will be available in our country for the Christmas season, which surely will go on sale in November. The editions are not confirmed yet but it is very likely that we get the simple pack and box for collectors.
