Bambi Diamond Collection Blu-ray in 2011

The Disney website has revealed that the animated classic Bambi will come out in 2011 as part of the Diamond Edition collection. This information has appeared on the page promoting the upcoming Blu-ray release of Beauty and the Beast.

Bambi was among the titles listed by the studio last year when it announced the Diamond Collection (see blu-ray.com, September 10, 2009). The other Diamond collection title for 2011 is reportedly The Lion King.

Bambi and Lion King Diamond Blu-ray Confirmed for 2011

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has uploaded two Blu-ray trailers to its YouTube page, confirming the schedule for the classic animated titles that will come out on Diamond Edition Blu-ray next year. Bambi will be released in the spring of 2011, and The Lion King in the fall. Edition details are still pending.

If those dates hold, 2010 will see two Disney classics released on Diamond Editions. In 2010, only Beauty and the Beast has received that treatment, as Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 are being released in a mere special edition.

An early announcement to retailers indicates that Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will release its animated classic Bambi on Blu-ray on March 1, 2011, as part of the Diamond Collection, in a BD/DVD combo edition. This 1942 movie has had its picture and sound thoroughly restored for this release.

Also recently revealed via a trailer on the Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition is a new Diamond Edition release of Bambi which is tentatively scheduled for 1st March 2011. Once again features are TBC but Amazon have the following extras listed:
